A Strait Betwixt Two

Welcome to the blog!

A blog by Dewey Engelsma   ………   is elsewhere.

Reformed Protestant or Protestant Reformed?

That is the question. These groups represent two ‘seas of thought’. And, they seemed very similar at the beginning. So we stand on this ‘strait’ to see how they are different.

As time passed and the controversy raged on, it became apparent the Reformed Protestants that broke off from the PRC were not as similar as everyone on both sides originally thought.

The RP leaders are redefining time-honored terms and phrases like justification, faith and sanctification. Where are the Reformed Protestant teachers getting their new definitions from? We gathered information to answer that question, and others. Therefore, we created this site to share this information.

It’s not only about schism. It’s also about the RP’s claim to be reforming.

Will their teachings help you grow in the reformed understanding of scripture? Or are they merely borrowing bits and pieces from other groups and Movements? Does weaving in these bits and pieces help in their reformation? Is it just a fresh gloss of some old sectarian ideas? Who are these groups and movements?

So, we recall the words of Thessalonians 5: 21 “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” This ‘strait’ can help you ‘prove these things’ and answer these questions.

Reformation or Hyper-grace?

Begin by exercising your office as a believer and prayerfully study what you find here. Then, you can see for yourself if the Reformed Protestant teachers are truly reforming or if they are exhibiting the language of Hyper-grace and other errors.

Answering Dewey Engelsma.

This ‘strait’ will not be a direct post-by-post response to Dewey Engelsma’s blog. This blog will deal with the errors that now entangle the RP ideology. It will set before you various ideas and Movements that the RPs echo. Are the Reformed Protestants offering a true reformation or if they are slipping into darker theological waters?

This blog site will present these ideas as we process what we already have, or as we receive them from you, our readers. Content will also contain what other reformed people have understood about this ideology, and may include their refutations.
